J. John, a Greek-Cypriot by birth, lives in Chorleywood,
Hertfordshire. He is married to Killy and they have 3 sons, Michael, Simeon and
Benjamin. J.John became a Christian in 1975. Since then he has gained the position
as one of the leading communicators of Christianity today. J.John has been described as
refreshing, humorous, passionate, earthy, accessible, dynamic and most of all, ordinary.
To date, he has completed thousands of speaking engagements at conferences, towns, cities
and universities in 26 countries on 6 continents. One million copies of his books are in
print in 13 languages.
J. John believes that contemporary society
is showing many alarming signs of having turned its back on God or just being unaware of
His existence. He argues that the loneliness and anxiety and broken relationships that
trouble many people are often symptoms of this separation. J. John believes that a lot of
people's understanding of Christianity is a misunderstanding. In his own inimitable style
he enables his listeners to understand that Christianity is not only reasonable, but
relevant and vitally important.
What others say:
"J. John is a speaker of national and
international repute. I am committed to the growth of the Church and I regard the work of
J.John as being of primary importance"
Most Revd & Rt. Hon, the Lord Archbishop of Canterbury
"It's really hard to communicate if
people don't like you. I've heard J.John speak. He appealed to everyone. He was funny and
he made us think - instant communication"
Sir Cliff Richard
The Philo Trust
Having studied Theology at St John's College, Nottingham, J. John joined the
staff of St Nicholas', an Anglican church in the centre of Nottingham. During this time
his ability at conveying the Christian message led him to focus on a work aimed at
communicating it more effectively.
In 1980 the Philo Trust was established to support him in this work. Based in Chorleywood,
it acts as an administrative centre for his expanding work. It currently employs three
full-time staff and a number of freelance researchers and advisors.
